I am doing some bible study in the book of Numbers. I am in this part where the Israelite's are complaining about only having manna to eat and how they wish they had some meat. Moses is sick of their complaining and tired of it all. But he goes to God and asks Him to do something. Moses says in Numbers 11:22, “Even if we butchered all our flocks and herds, would that satisfy them? Even if we caught all the fish in the sea, would that be enough?” This is how he responds to the God of the universe. Directly after God more or less tells him, “Tomorrow you will have meat and it will be so much you will be able to eat for a month, and you will be sick of it.” Moses’s human mind cannot understand what God is about to do. Moses has seen God do many amazing things already, but he cannot figure out how God will feed them meat.

After Moses questions God on how he is going to satisfy the people, this is how God responds in Numbers 11:23, “Then the Lord said to Moses, “Has my arm lost its power? Now you will see whether or not my word comes true!” WOW… Did you catch that? It made me stop and think for a moment...Have we come to a place where we think God has lost His power? Are we to a point that, yeah, maybe we have heard the stories of what God can do or maybe we have experienced them ourselves but we are not sure he can do it again?

Do we live our Christian lives worshiping, in our minds, a powerless God?...

NO, no we don’t. We worship the God who brought the Israelite's out of Egypt and parted the red sea. A God who kept them and fed them. A God who left his throne and walked among us. A God that gave everything up to come and die for me, on the cross, and rose again.

Not only that but Romans 8:10-11, “And Christ lives within you, so even though your body will die because of sin, the Spirit gives you life because you have been made right with God. 11The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you.”

So we need to stop living as if God has lost his power. Stop hiding away. The same power that rose Jesus from the grave lives in us. Start living like we are called to be … a light. Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden.”

Brothers and sisters, let's turn back to the Father. Let's repent for not trusting him and trust and know this: No, God’s arm has not lost his power.

My favorite book in the Bible, one of my favorite passages. A huge reminder that God’s arm has not shortened. He is our provider, healer, guide, strength, etc. So many, many examples in my own life where He has done several of these things from healing to strength. Amen!
